Riviere Cochon Gras Bridge - Perches, Haiti

The town of Perches, located in Northeast Haiti, can only be reached by crossing a river. Residents and vendors travel to the town through unpaved road and drive or walk through the river. For much of the year, this is acceptable, but during the rainy season which lasts up to four months, the road frequently becomes impassable.

It’s anticipated that improved access to the town will eliminate barriers to its development and allow higher property values. Like many Haitian rural areas, Perches has suffered from young people moving to the city or the Dominican Republic for work.
